Virginias are often considered the quintessential tobacco. Naturally bright and sweet in their taste, they have lured in countless smokers over the centuries. These are three of the finest Virginia tobacco blends in existence today. Take time to appreciate the natural sugars, enhanced by the skillful hands of the blender.

SKU: B-TPG-HPR Category:

Samuel Gawith: Full Virginia Flake

Samuel Gawith’s legendary Full Virginia Flake is for lovers of pure pressed Virginias. Created in the heart of Lakeland, the hot-pressed blended Virginias take on a delicious and distinctive dark color that creates a cool smoke with a broad, capacious, rich, and unfailing flavor, leaving the pipe smoker yearning for the next pipe full.

McClelland: Blackwoods Flake

The characteristic, natural sweetness of mellow, red Virginias mingles inextricably with the richness and inherently spicy aroma of black stoved Virginias in the doubly aged Blackwoods Flake blend. An artistic achievement in pipe tobaccos, this beautiful mottled flake is incomparable in smoothness, balance and refinement.

Orlik: Golden Sliced

Golden Sliced is a blend of none other than golden, fully ripened Virginia leaves from the traditional districts of the United States, with just a touch of Perique. This truly golden tobacco gets its natural sweetness from the high sugar content of golden Virginias and is balanced out with mild hints of hay and citrus fruits.

This would make a nice package for a VA lover, and wouldn’t be a bad intro to Virginias. Orlik Golden Slice is top-shelf stuff, and I’ve yet to be disappointed by a McClelland blend. The one tin of Gawith Full VA I bought (not from this site) was lousy though. Maybe I got a bad one, because it seems to have a lot of fans.

For those new to VA-heavy blends, be warned. The high sugar content smells lovely in the tin, but when you smoke it, you will be burning sugars, which can be harsh. Go slooooowly lest your tongue get bitten.
