Don’t be fooled by its name, Mac Baren put the onus on quality with this stellar aromatic blend. Vanilla Cream Flake is created with very high quality matured Virginia and black Cavendish tobaccos. Vanilla is then added to sweeten the quality leaf. This true flake is an outstanding aromatic blend that will spoil your palate and please everyone in the room.

Decant: Nice beautiful flakes. Subtle aromas of vanilla, hay, brown sugar. Hint of figs and overly ripe apples.

Packaging: Classy, gold foil covered paper, and embossed logo. Makes you anticipate thoughtfully and carefully folding it back. A small tin in comparison with other tobaccos in the same class, but not a problem as the weight is the same.

Texture: Precisely cut flakes with uniform thickness, untattered and clean. Rubs nice and uniformly.

Prepping the First bowl: I removed a single flake, folded it in half and rubbed it into my palm. Once opened up, I rubbed it between my palms and it expanded nicely. I filled my bowl, and packed it a little tighter than loosely. The char light expanded the the tobacco nicely. It rose slightly above the rim and I let it die. The aroma was sweet without being over powering. A sweetness lingered in my mouth. I tamped it lightly and gave it a relight. It opened up lightly, and the Virginias jumped to the front. Followed by the casing of vanilla. It was well balanced and pleasant. The aroma was light and pleasant and a bit sweet.

Nose and Notes: Vanilla, Virginia, Cavendish sweetness, a hint of spice is there but only about 3/4 of the way through the bowl. Although this is an “aromatic” the nose is light like a navy blend. Not heavy and over powering. More like an aromatic was smoked sometime before not at the moment. Very light, sweet and enjoyable.

Through the rest: I decanted and rubbed about half of it into a mason jar and placed the rest of the flakes in as well. It smoked well, without any negative attributes, other than you have to be careful that you do not invite bite by smoking it too fast. It is tasty for certain however, it was not overly remarkable, just flat enjoyable.

Thoughts: Definitely a tobacco to have in your stash. It is probably one of my most wife friendly blends that I enjoy. It is definitely a cased tobacco not a topped one. The vanilla and sweetness permeate the entire experience but do not entirely define it. Over all it is well balanced, mild both in smoke and aroma. Not a strong smoke, but highly enjoyable.

Rating: I could only give 4 stars based strength and on its mildness. My 4 stars is solid 4 stars.

Tin smells great, a rich fruity vanilla scent. The vanilla and virginia tastes dance back and forth between the foreground and the background, although neither flavor totally leaves. Great room note.
